Provincial MBF provides further supports to local Foodbanks
School Holidays can put extra strain on the support offered by our local Foodbanks, which is why the Trustees of the Provincial Mark Benevolent Fund have agreed to provide an additional donation to assist in this time of need.
A sum of £2,750 shall be spread equally across the following eleven foodbank catchment areas: Windermere, Millom, Appleby, Penrith, Carlisle, Egremont, Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport, Cockermouth and Wigton.
Pictured is Adrian Cozens, project manager for The North Lakes Foodbank who was overwhelmed and delighted to receive a cheque for £1500 to be used by Egremont, Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport, Cockermouth and Wigton foodbanks for the Lunch Packs4 Kids Scheme. Over the 6 weeks of the summer holidays 1400 packs will have been distributed containing 10 tons of food which has helped 400 families with children aged 11yrs and under. 2800 jars of pasta sauce and 2800 packets of biscuits give an idea of the quantities needed to make these packs.
The donation follows on from the original support provided by the Provincial MBF in January of this year (click on link) http://cumbriafreemasons.org/provincial-mark-benevolent-fund-supports-local -foodbanks/
