A Champagne Moment for Thompson Holliday 🍾 🥂🏉
Yesterday, Lewis Lodge No. 872 had the privilege of sponsoring the Champagne Moment at Whitehaven RLFC in honour of our much-missed Brother, W. Bro Thompson Holliday, a lifelong and passionate supporter of the club.
What a day it turned out to be! Whitehaven produced a fantastic performance to defeat Dewsbury Rams 34–16, making it five consecutive victories for the first time since 2018. It was also the perfect home send-off for Marc Shackley, who made his final appearance at the Ortus Recreation Ground.
As sponsors of the Champagne Moment, Lewis Lodge were delighted to choose two special moments from the game:
🍾 🥂 Ellison Holgate’s kick-through and follow-up try — a fantastic piece of skill and determination.
🍾 🥂 Marc Shackley’s conversion after the final whistle — a fitting final kick in front of the home supporters.
And, of course, the Brethren of Lewis Lodge were there to raise a glass in Thompson’s memory — although, fittingly, it was vodka and coke rather than champagne! 🥃
A fantastic afternoon of Rugby League, a great result for Whitehaven, and most importantly, an opportunity to remember a Brother and lifelong supporter of the club.
To Thompson — always remembered, never forgotten. 🥃🏉
