Lodge Profile.
Union Lodge 310 is the oldest Lodge in the City of Carlisle and the third oldest in the Province of Cumberland and Westmorland. Originally formed by Artisans and Masons from Annan who came to Carlisle to work, the Lodge was chartered in 1784 on the roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. The same brethren applied to the Grand Lodge of England in 1796 and a Warrant was issued on 30th July of that same year.
The Lodge has a very distinguished History having been an exemplary ambassador for Freemasonry both in the City and the Province. We have many interesting artefacts and hold records of Masonic activity for nearly 250 years including details of a Scottish Operative Lodge meeting in Carlisle. Over the years, many members of Union Lodge have contributed to building Carlisle into the great Border City that exists today.
Currently, we are a small friendly Lodge with our members working in friendship and harmony to promote Freemasonry. Our ritual has little quirks that goes back to our early days and make the Lodge interesting. We still acknowledge the original precepts of Freemasonry, Brotherly love, relief and truth and the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity. At the same time we are a forward thinking modern Lodge who believes in the modern principles of Freemasonry, namely Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Service,
