Annual West Cumbria Vintage Club Rally

Sunday 7th July saw the 28th Annual West Cumbria Vintage Club Rally. At Hayescastle Farm Distington, which has been organised for the past 39 years by W. Bro. Bob Sanderson.

The event is a gathering of vintage and veteran vehicles machinery etc. from all over the North of England.

Among the exhibits are several owned by local free masons.

 

W. Bro. J. D. Rudd, PAGDC, Ennerdale Lodge No. 4216 with his half size steam traction engine has attended for over ten years.

W. Bro. R. Douglas, former member of Ennerdale Lodge with his Garret Steam Tractor, driven from Holmrook a a sedate 2 miles an hour. Taking over seven hours to cover the 20 miles or so.

W. Bro. D. Tuke, PPGSuptWk, Alauna Lodge No. 8808, a regular attendee for over tewnty years with his Aston Martin DB5, David also co-ordinates a gathering of over ten Aston Martins at the event.

Also at the event for a number of years The Masonic Roadshow Caravan, manned by V. W. Bro. W. H. Morley B.E.M, Dep PGM. who saw fit to try out the Blood Bike donated by the Province. Assisted by W. Bro. S. Moffatt, PrAlmoner, SWG chairman.

Also attending for the first time was the Blood Car donated by the Mark Benevolent Fund, again inspected by W. Bro. D. G. Sanderson PGSD, Asst.PGM. fresh from his installation on Friday evening into the chair of Golden Jubilee Mark Lodge No. 1821. Who acts as one of the main gate stewards for the event, which this year was attended by over 4,000 people.

The event welcomes all clubs from all over the U.K. and offers free facilities for those exhibiting. Next years event will be 5th July 2019. see club website for details at westcumbriavintageclub.org.uk.
