The iconic Alhambra cinema in St. John’s Street, Keswick is a much loved community asset and undergoing refurbishment. Members of Derwentwater Lodge noted a Renovation Update on the crowdfunding website that it was short of its target, and had only a few days to go before the appeal closed.
To the surprise and absolute delight of the owners, lodge members quickly agreed and stepped in with a £1000 cheque to bridge the gap.
A “wall of supporters” is to be installed in the foyer, and the Lodge, along with others who have given £50 and over, will be inscribed for all cinema patrons in the future to note the generosity of Derwentwater Lodge of Freemasons.
