Ennerdale Lodge recently welcomed Bro Laurie Pearson of Underley Lodge for an engaging and enlightening talk titled “Metal Detecting and Fundraising.” Bro Pearson shared his passion for metal detecting and highlighted how this fascinating hobby is being used as an innovative and effective method to raise funds for Masonic and charitable causes.
Following two successful detecting events—known as “Digs”—Bro Pearson generously donated £1,000 and £500 respectively, from gate receipts. The first donation was presented to V.W.Bro. Bill Morley in support of his outstanding efforts to fund the installation of defibrillators throughout the region. The second donation was made to W.Bro. Robert Sanderson as a gesture of gratitude after he secured detecting permission on Calder Farm, courtesy of W.Bro. Calder Fenwick.
Bro Pearson and his dedicated group of metal detectorists are keen to continue supporting Masonic fundraising across the Province. They are particularly enthusiastic about assisting in V.W.Bro. Morley’s mission to provide life-saving equipment in our communities.
Any Lodge wishing to host Bro Pearson for a similar talk—or able to offer land for a one-day fundraising Dig—is warmly encouraged to get in touch. This initiative not only raises substantial funds but also fosters fraternal bonds and community engagement.
