Gone Fishing! Last week there were lots of empty classrooms as students continued to learn in the great outdoors.

Over 2 days the Masonic Fishing Charity provided a fabulous fly fishing experience, in glorious weather, for #GrisedalePikeClass, #HaystacksClass and #FairfieldClass.

Scoping the lake on Tuesday were Grisedale Pike and Haystacks, followed by Fairfield on Wednesday.

Each student had a casting buddy from the wonderful team of Masonic volunteers and there was some fantastic fly fishing success! It sounds like the fish were more forthcoming on the Tuesday but both days were full of enriching interactions, appreciation of the environment, and top nosh from Terry’s burger van. Thank you Terry!

On Wednesday Fairfield shared the day with students from Sandside Lodge School and it was lovely to see everyone together around the lake. Our students worked with the casters confidently and politely and showed great resilience when the fish proved elusive! Well done everyone for demonstrating excellent communication skills and making a memorable day.

Back in school our post-16 students were recalling their KS3 Masonic fishing trip with fondness and enthusiasm so it clearly has a long lasting impact!

Thank you very much to the Masonic Fishing Charity and everyone who hosted us. We will definitely be angling for a trip next year!
