Gospatric Lodge No. 5286 marked a momentous occasion at their February meeting, celebrating W.Bro John Blackburn’s remarkable 60 years in Freemasonry with a full house. The evening was graced by the presence of R.W.Bro Nicholas Blake Wilson, Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by W.Bro Keith Beaumont, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro Nigel Thomason, W.Bro David Bowden, Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, and the Provincial team, who gathered to present W.Bro John with his certificate.

Following the formal opening, business proceedings, and closing of the Lodge, John’s daughter, Janice, and her partner, Terry, entered the Lodge room, joining John and the PGM. In an intimate and heartfelt moment, John shared stories of his early life, his military service in the Navy, and his family. It was wonderful to see him so at ease, engaging in a warm conversation with the PGM.

To the delight of all present, R.W.Bro Nicholas Blake Wilson, PGM, then bestowed upon John the distinguished rank of Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden, an honor met with resounding applause.

As John nears his 100th birthday, the Lodge marked the occasion with a special cake, ensuring that every attendee at the festive board received a slice in celebration. The evening made it abundantly clear just how highly regarded W.Bro John is, both within Freemasonry and beyond. Everyone in attendance wished him continued happiness and good health for many years to come.
