Organised the Inter Provincial Clay Comp.For the Watson Eden Trophy.
At “the Paintmine’s Woods ” Silverdale, on the 20th of October 2019.
The Four Provinces which took part in the annual Inter Provincial Clay Competition were, Cumberland & Westmorland, West Lancashire, West Riding of Yorkshire and North East Riding of Yorkshire.
45 Guns registered to shoot over 10 stands, shooting a 50 bird layout with high, doubles and single clays, on report, very testing bird’s.
The day started off with bacon butties and hot drinks from Steve Robert’s Mobile Catering Van and cooked by his lovely partner Mandy.
The morning was overcast threatening to rain but it never materialised, all the stands were quickly in operation with some very high testing birds with some cracking shooting taking place.
Highest score of the day, was 42 out of 50 by a West Lancashire team member, from their team of 18, only the top 4 scores count for each Province.
After the event all retired to Milnthorpe Masonic Rooms where they enjoyed a lovely steak pie lunch served by the Masonic Rooms committee and friends, after the meal the prizes were presented by Peter Mason
The Prizes winners are as follows:
The “Watson Eden Trophy” for the highest aggregate team score was won by the West Lancashire Team.
The “Wathbrow Trophy” Highest scoring member from Cumberland & Westmorland was won by Steve Roberts
The “Keith Graham Trophy”, runner up for a Cumberland & Westmorland member went to Dougie Sanderson The “Team Shield” for the Lodge with most participants was presented to Norman Jinks WM of the Country Pursuits Lodge 9898
The “Clay Preservation Trophy” was presented to John Hunter Special thanks go to:
Milnthorpe Rooms Committee. The Masonic Light Blue Club and Clay Club members for manning the clay traps, score marking and helping with the registration
Raffle ticket sales, Barbara Gabbott and Carol Jinks.
Hopefully this year’s event will take place at Knaresborough, East Yorkshire on Friday 2nd October.
