On Saturday 6th June the lodge of Uniformed Services hosted it\’s annual mess dinner in celebration of the anniversary of \’ d day \’
The worshipful master w.bro. Andrew Chappell welcomed the provincial grand master rt.w.bro. Nicholas Blake Wilson together with his lady mrs. Kate Wilson as the distinguished guests for the occasion.
The rawthey project , sedburgh was represented by mr. mathew geggie , himself a retired royal marine and both ladies , gentlemen and brethren settled down to an evening of banquetting , fine wines and the traditional \’\’ passing of the port. \’\’
Thirty nine attended dressed in formal attire with some wearing their decorations from military campaigns in recognition of passed service.
Dinner commenced with bro.shaun gregg of uniformed services performing the roll of duty piper to much acclaim.
An address to the fallen was given by the provincial grand chaplain w.bro. Chris Blackshaw following an appropriate grace before meat.
Entertainment throughout the champagne reception and dinner service was provided by w.bro. peter major of Union lodge no.129 with a delightful selection of cocktail music.
Following dinner each guest retired to the Kendal suite foyer for drinks , conversation and further entertainment which was provided by the Laura Whistler school of dance , from Whitley Bay , when we were treated to a display of \’ the Kent hornpipe \’ in naval uniform.
The food and service provided at the castle green hotel was of an excellent standard and much appreciation was demonstrated on the evening.
