The Scrub Hub North West Cumbria (which is based at the Cleator Moor Civic Hall and Masonic Centre) has now produced in excess of 2500 sets of Scrubs and is fast approaching a marvelous 3000.
The scrubs have now been delivered to the front line workers of the NHS, working at Hospitals, Doctors’ surgeries and Dentists.
Claire Riley is the coordinator who came up with the idea of helping the NHS, Claire is also the wife of the Lodge of Friendship’s Inner Guard Andrew Riley.
Claire is supported by her husband Andy who looks after dispatching the Scrubs to Doctors’ surgeries and those who need them the most in these very difficult times,
The Scrubs start their journey when the material is delivered to the wife of one of our former Group Chairmen Robin Pearson, who cuts the material into the shapes and sizes required.
The material is then delivered to the Cleator Moor Civic Hall and Masonic Centre to be sorted, packed up and sent out to the large number of volunteers who sew them together.
The Scrubs are then returned to Claire at the Masonic Hall who then sorts the various sizes and different colours, they are then labelled and packed into various boxes ready for delivery.
The Scrub Hub also provides surgical caps, masks, visors, extension straps, little thank you gifts, cards and thank you notes.
We at the Cleator Moor Civic hall and Masonic Centre feel very proud that we can help this wonderful and much needed initiative.
A big thank you to Claire and all her helpers that helping in these difficult times,
Stay safe everyone
Kindest regards
