The Masonic Fishing Charity have donated their entire supply of antibacterial hand wipes and antibacterial surface wipes to the Station House Surgery in Kendal and to the Summer Hill Care Home, also in Kendal. The Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC) is an organisation whose aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people with special needs. The Charity was founded in 2004 and now has 34 Branches throughout the country.
With this year’s fishing events having all been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, stocks of hand and surface wipes were just sitting in the warehouse at Grosvenor House Papers in Kendal from where the goods are distributed nationally. The executive of the charity made the decision that during these exceptional times, a gift of the much sort after PPE items be made available to two local organisations, who support the community in Kendal, both of whom are directly tackling the scourge that is Covid-19.
The C.E.O. of the Masonic Fishing Charity, Bro. Steve Roberts, in endorsing this decision, said, “Sadly our Masonic Fishing Charity is prevented this year from giving the many disabled and disadvantaged young children and young adults, an adventure and the experience of a day’s fishing. However, we are delighted to offer all of our PPE antibacterial wipe kits, to the people who need and deserve them at this testing time. The Masonic Fishing Charity and masons throughout the country, salute them and all carers for all that they do and are doing at this terrible time in our history. I must also thank Bro. Peter Graveson for delivering the packages.”
The recipients of these gifts were overwhelmed by the kindness and thoughtfulness this timely gesture. Station House Surgery, based on Station Road in Kendal, received 4 boxes of antibacterial handwipes each containing 100 packs and 3 boxes of antibacterial surface wipes, each containing 6 tubs. In response, the practice issued a statement saying “The partners and all the staff at Station House Surgery, would like to thank the Masonic Fishing Charity for their kind donation of antibacterial wipes given to the surgery last week, which will help keep our patients and staff safe.”
The Summer Hill Care Home situated at East View in Kendal, has 71 beds, offering nursing, residential and memory care, for those living with dementia, received 3.5 boxes of antibacterial hand wipes and 3 boxes of antibacterial surface wipes. A total of 87 staff provide the overall care package necessary to run the home. Mr Shaun Moore, a member of staff at the care home said in response, “It was a lovely gesture and so thoughtful to have our care home in mind. It’s nice to know that so many people are helping out where they can. The staff and residents are so grateful for your kindness. Our thanks must go to all at the Masonic Fishing Charity.”
