W Bro Ian Lister – 50 Years in Freemasonry

On Tuesday 18th September, W Bro Ian Lister PPGSwdB of Lewis Lodge No 872 celebrated 50 years in Freemasonry. In attendance was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W Bro Bill Morley, who presented him with his certificate to the acclamation of the large number of brethren who had assembled to join with Ian in celebrating this very special occasion. The DPGM referred to Ian’s loyal and dedicated service to his mother Lodge, various “side” degrees and to the Province in general. It was also a family occasion as Ian’s son, W Bro Andrew Lister, took part in the ceremony, reading the contents of his certificate.
Ian is a very well-known and admired figure across Cumberland and Westmorland, having held several acting Provincial Offices. He is a Grand Officer in the Mark Degree. At the Festive Board, various brethren paid tribute to Ian and he reflected on how masonry had changed over the last 50 years.
All present had enjoyed a wonderful evening of celebration, honouring a highly respected brother.
